

Richard R. "Rick" Pavey was born June 18, 1953 in Indianapolis, Indiana and death occurred at his Columbus, Ohio home , February 25, 2022. He was born to John S. "Jack" and Patricia (Ernspiger) Pavey who pre-deceased him, along with his brother Brad Pavey . The Jack Pavey family moved from Indianapolis to Anderson, Indiana area where Rick and his siblings attended Anderson schools.
Rick early on developed a shared lifetime hobby with his father in trains and railways and their history. He enjoyed collecting/building model trains, old railroad maps and later studying the geology of Ohio's railroad cuts. He enjoyed sharing his Pavey/Ernspiger family genealogy that his ex-wife, Myra, began as a hobby.
Rick Pavey graduated from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana with a BS in Geology (1978) and MS (1983) . Rick worked as a staff geologist for Lewis Engineering in Plainfield, Indiana from 1978 - 1980. He came to the Ohio Geological Survey in January of 1984, retiring in 2015. Rick professionally consulted with Terracon after his retirement from the survey.
In recent years, Rick enjoyed virtually attending his hometown's Anderson First Church. He was a faithful part of the New Life Sunday School class and the church's main service, up to the Sunday prior to his passing. He is survived by his daughter, Sam Pavey of Columbus, Ohio; his brother Mark (Brenda) Pavey of Orange Beach, Alabama; sister, Mary (Tim) Trueblood of Pendleton, Indiana; four nieces: Abby (Skyler) Whittington of Alabama and Molly Trueblood of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Allison (Matt) Grant and Ashley (Andrew) McKinney of Alabama; four great nephews and one great niece of Alabama.
The family will be recieving friends on March 26th from 12-2 with a memorial service to follow at 2pm. The family asks in lieu of flowers donations may be made to www.maryhaven.com.
