Roy Paul Kavicky

Roy Paul Kavicky passed on September 10, 2026, at the age of 83. Roy was born in New York City, Roy was raised by his parents, Paul and Anna Kavicky (née Richnavsky), among beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins who immersed him in their Slovak culture and traditions.

After settling in Teaneck, New Jersey, Roy enjoyed football, wrestling, and baseball before turning his focus to academics. He became the first person in his family to graduate from college and later earned his master’s degree in economics and social work from Morehead State University.

Roy began his career as a professor at West Liberty State University. His career journey furthered in services working with developmentally disabled individuals, moving forward with adjudicated adolescents in need and eventually becoming the Director of Franklin Village, a part of Franklin County Children Services.

While living in New Jersey, Roy met the love of his life, Barbara “Bonnie” Jeanne Pollock. They married, started a family, and made their home in Grove City. Over nearly six decades together, they traveled the world and built a life in which love was palpable, laughter was common, and a kind word was always just a conversation away.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Thomas and Gloria Pollock (née Kiley). He leaves behind his wife, Bonnie; his sons, Paul (Tammy née Elick) and Craig (Kelly née Stilwell); and his beloved grandchildren, Cooper and Grace Kavicky.

Roy’s life was marked by achievement, service, and love, but his greatest legacy is the life he built for the family he cherished. His love and example will remain with them now and forever.

A celebration of Roy's life will be held at The Jeffrey Mansion - Jeffrey House room, 165 N. Parkview Avenue, Bexley, Ohio 43209 on October 4th between 2 - 5 pm.
