Thomas Isaly Converse (Tom) died peacefully at home on May 16, 2026, after an extended illness and was surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by wife Becky, daughter Hannah (Chris) and many extended family members and friends. He believed his greatest achievement was being a father and he was excited to be a grandfather!
Tom loved many things, most of all his family but he also enjoyed golf, watching Hallmark, church activities, and his daily work in architecture. His dry sense of humor always kept people guessing. He loved taking our dogs on walks and he found comfort in his daily prayers as he strolled through the neighborhood.
As an architect, Tom enjoyed design and it was his attention to detail that made spaces beautiful, comfortable, and dignified whether he was designing for nursing homes, churches with liturgical design, his beloved BETA house, or prisons for door controls.
He served in various leadership roles on church council at Christ Lutheran Church, Liturgical Art Guild and Beta Theta Pi Alpha Chapter alumni board believing in the goal of developing men of principle. A recent riverboat cruise to celebrate several milestones including 35 years of marriage was a highlight for retirement.
Tom was a man who thrived on routine, precision, and a sense of order. Something that he never wavered from was the order in which he set his priorities for his life- God, spouse, family, community, self. Guiding his decisions with God’s grace in mind- the love for his family, putting others first, the strength of his commitments, his sincerity of his purpose and the quiet courage of his convictions was the true measure of his life.
A seafaring man, he was happiest on the water in a sailboat. He loved serving in the Navy on the USS Glover and was a master boat handler. Weekends spent at cedar point and sailing about on Lake Erie were his passion! With fair winds and following seas, he has his sails trimmed and he is off to heaven. The family would like to thank the many caregivers; Dr. Shelley Blackburn, caregivers at The Bing, The James, National Church Residences Home Health, and Hospice services. We prayed to be put in front of compassionate people who had the expertise for necessary treatment and those prayers were answered. We thank friends and family for the many kind expressions of your love for us through your prayers and supportive gestures.
