Thomas B. Niehaus, US Navy Veteran, age 83, passed away on Monday October 3rd, 2022, at his home & in the presence of his loving family. He was born August 15, 1939 in Cincinnati Ohio to the late William & Marie Niehaus. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Mary Diane Niehaus, children; Jennifer (John) Arrera, Craig (Layla) Niehaus; grandchildren Nicholas & Eric Milligan, Nathan & Lilly Niehaus, brother Jack (Ann) Niehaus, sister-in-laws Elaine(Steve) Delaplane, Lynne Mitchell, JoAnn (Gordon) Wooley, Gerri (Jim) Richter, Christine(Rick) Volk, brother-in-law Jim Gruber, Tim ((Mary) Gruber, Dave (Donna) Gruber, and 23 nieces & nephews along with numerous dear friends. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by siblings Virginia Hoffman, Marilyn Lindeman, Eileen Hoffman, Billy Niehaus, Charles Niehaus, and Robert Niehaus. Tom was best described as a loving husband and father, & fantastic friend. He was blessed with a sense of humor and found joy in every day of his life. He had a gift of spreading that joy to all who knew him. He was happy, kind, intelligent and eternally optimistic! During his entire illness, he never uttered a complaint to anyone.
In our 53 years of marriage I could probably count on one hand the times I saw him “down”, he just didn’t let that happen. He was the life of every party & lit the room with his laughter. At every event where there was music & a dance floor he was the first one out and the last one dancing at the end of the evening! Our adorable niece Holly is getting married on October 15th & she so wanted her Uncle Tom to be the first on the dance floor. Sweet Holly, I promise you he will fulfill that wish, we just won’t be able to see him 😇 but he will be there, as he never broke a promise to anyone he loved! His happiest days were the days his children arrived into his life and the saddest days when he had to tell them goodbye. With his daughter Jenny he shared a love of reading & sharing books. Tom loved everything from the Classics to Mark Twain, Michener, History & even Steven King! He could recall the author & plot of every book he read! With Craig he shared a love of the automobile business and Golf! Following his retirement he spent every moment he could spare on the golf course always hoping for that ever elusive hole-in-one! He never got one here but I’m sure he’s had several since reaching his heavenly home! He loved his grandchildren with all his heart! He loved his yard & garden taking pride in watching things grow! He was a good & faith-filled man throughout his life & left it sacramentally intact. We will miss him forever but have solace in the knowledge that we will all meet again at a time of the Lord’s choosing. May he Rest In Peace!
In lieu of flowers his family asks that you donate to one of his favorite charities: St Jude’s Childrens Hospital, The Lung Cancer Assn or Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Family will receive friends Tuesday October 11, 2022 from 10-11am at St Peter Catholic Church, 6899 Smokey Row Rd. With a memorial Mass to follow @ 11am.
