Tim is survived by wife Andrea W. George, son Michael George of Columbus, daughter Ellie Wilhelm (Ryan) of Cincinnati, Grandchildren Clara and Andy Wilhelm, brother Jim George(Rene) of Cincinnati, many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. He was born in Mt. Gilead, son of Franklin and Carroll George, both deceased. He worked for Big Bear for many years, and was a security guard after Big Bear's closing, armed with a joke and a smile.
Tim was interested in politics at an early age, typing letters to all 100 Senators while in high school. He photographed many candidates over the years, and was photographed shaking hands with the late Jimmy Carter. He loved nature, and took beautiful photos of birds, flowers, and animals at Columbus metro parks.
Tim spent his entire life working so very hard, and that did not change when he experienced a stroke in 2016 after a trip of a lifetime to Italy. For over eight years, Tim’s priority was to maintain his independence with the unwavering support of his family. His stroke did not strip him from his joyful smile, laugh, kindness, sincerity, and love for his family and friends. He was steadfast in maintaining his sense of humor, even in his final days. Tim will be remembered for his service to his community, including caregiving for seniors through the Clintonville Beechwold Resources Center, as well as through touring schools, museums, and visits to the children at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, sharing his unique Etch-A-Sketch talents. Tim did not know a stranger, and everyone he met “was just so nice.” Tim’s kids will remember that he would drop anything to be there for them, and he made the best chocolate milkshakes.
Tim and his family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, aides, therapists, and social workers who have supported Tim over the last eight years. We are especially thankful for the immigrants and refugees who have cared for Tim with the utmost dignity and respect, as they deserve to also be treated.
