

Vincent Atriano, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on December 22, 2024 in Columbus, Ohio surrounded by family. He was born on September 27, 1963 in Pescara, Italy, to Tazio and Rossana Atriano. At the age of 2, Vincent moved with his family to the United States, eventually settling in Hilliard, Ohio.
A proud graduate of Hilliard High School, Class of 1981, Vincent pursued his academic dreams at The Ohio State University, earning dual degrees in Political Science and Philosophy. While at Ohio State, he showcased his musical talents as a trumpet player in the esteemed Ohio State University Marching Band, a role that nurtured his lifelong passion for Buckeye football.
Vincent continued his education at the University of Michigan Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctorate in 1988. He excelled academically, serving as an editor for the Michigan Law Review. It was during his time at Michigan that he met Dina, his future wife and partner of 36 years. The couple married in 1988 and began their life together in Dublin, Ohio, where they raised their two children, Eva and Marco.
As an environmental trial lawyer at Squire Patton Boggs, Vincent built a distinguished career that spanned over 36 years. He was widely respected for his extensive expertise in environmental law, including defense of U.S. EPA and state enforcement actions, toxic tort and mass tort litigation, Superfund and VAP response cost recovery cases, environmental compliance, and crisis management. His proficiency encompassed key federal environmental laws, including CERCLA, RCRA, the Clean Air Act, and the Clean Water Act, as well as OSHA and the Hazardous Materials Transportation Act. Vincent served as lead trial lawyer in numerous complex federal and state cases, earning recognition as an accomplished litigator and trusted advisor to his clients.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Vincent was deeply committed to mentoring others. Several colleagues have shared how they wouldn’t be the lawyers they are today without his guidance, advice, and encouragement. He took immense pride in nurturing talent and exemplified the best of his profession.
Among his many honors, Vincent was recognized with Business First’s “Forty Under 40” award and was a graduate of the Leadership Columbus program.
Vincent’s passions extended far beyond the courtroom. A lifelong fan of Ohio State football, he rarely missed a game and was a proud supporter of the Scarlet and Gray. In his spare time, he found relaxation and joy in flight simulation games, indulging his fascination with aviation. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, sharing stories, laughter, and traditions that will be treasured forever.
Vincent is survived by his devoted wife, Dina; his children, Eva and Marco; his parents, Tazio and Rossana; and his siblings, Lynda (George Vergits), Calisto, and Lorenzo (Cheryl). He was a proud uncle to Michael, Erika, Tony, Vinny, Paolo, Lilliana, and George. He is also survived by his aunts, Lina Fabbri and Diana Basile, and his cousins, Daniela, Nadia, Rudy, Deborah, and Alex. He is preceded in death by his cousin, Gianluca Basile, and uncles, Mario Basile and Benito Fabbri.
The Atriano family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers and medical staff who supported Vincent throughout his journey.
Vincent will be remembered for his sharp mind, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and community. His legacy as a mentor, leader, and source of inspiration will live on in the countless lives he touched.
