

Albert Lee Harrison passed away peacefully at the age of 88 at Good Samaritan Health Care Center in Yakima. Al was born on January 6, 1928 in Colbert, Washington to William Earl Harrison and Nancy Susan Harrison.
He is survived by his son Douglas (Doug) Leroy Harrison and wife Gerri and his loyal companion for the last 12 years, Lois Volmer. Al wanted to express his heartfelt thanks to Lois, Greg and Sharon Smith and the hospice staff and volunteers at the Cottage in the Meadow for all they did for him during his illness. He is survived also by his daughters Peggy McLemore and Valerie Moody and their husbands, his sister Mable Milson, daughter-in-law Lori Harrison, 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. AI's wife, Dolores, of 56 years of marriage, passed away in 2003, as well as his son, William (Bill) Everett Harrison, in 2014.
Al moved from Washington at the age of 6 to a ranch his parents purchased in northern Idaho. At the age of 12, his family moved to Coeur d' Alene, Idaho.
In 1945, Al joined the U.S. Maritime Service and did his Coast Guard Boot Camp and Life Boat Training on Catalina Island and shipped out from Fort Mason for Military Sea Transport Service (M.S.T.S) on the Troop Ship Marine Shark. He served 1945-46 in the South Pacific and moved occupation troops to Japan. He returned to Coeur d' Alene, Idaho and married Dolores Discher in November, 1946. Then, 1950-51 returned to Sea Transport Service in Korea.
Al owned and operated several businesses in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. In 1958, he moved to Seattle and was employed by Boeing in Finance Management until 1969 when he moved to Yakima and was employed by Associated Grocers, as Operations Manager, until 1979. AI, then, went into Real Estate and purchased Heritage Brokers and operated the business until he sold it and retired in 1996.
In his early years, Al enjoyed the outdoors, flying (his first solo flight in 1948) and wood carving, Al was a past member of Mt. Adams Lodge, 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite and Shriners.
Al had a quick wit and sense of humor, always telling jokes and tales, some he has passed down from his mother and father.
A graveside service will take place at Terrace Heights Memorial Park on March 10, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. A reception will follow the service at Rainier Memorial Center Reception Center.
