Ann was born May 27, 1944, in Toppenish, Washington, to Don and Charlotte Houghton. She grew up on a farm in Sunnyside and attended Grandview Grade School, Harrah Elementary School, and Wapato High School, graduating in 1962. She later graduated from Yakima Business School.
Ann married her high school sweetheart, Dick Fraley, on July 18, 1964 and they made their home in Yakima. She worked in real estate for 30 years, most notably with Coldwell Banker, where she earned multiple awards and was known for her professionalism, style, and dedication to her clients.
Ann and Dick welcomed their daughter, Gina, in 1966 and their son, Ryan, in 1971. They were devoted parents who enjoyed boating, water skiing, and many summers spent at Lake Chelan with family and friends. Golf later became Ann’s favorite pastime, and she was a member of the Yakima Country Club Ladies Golf group. For 20 years, Ann and Dick also treasured time spent in Kona, Hawaii.
Ann’s faith was central to her life. She was a longtime member of Grace of Christ Presbyterian Church and participated in a close-knit Bible study that provided comfort throughout her illness.
Ann retired in 2014. In later years, she faced Parkinson’s disease with strength, grace, and her signature sense of humor. In her final year, she found joy watching hummingbirds and admiring the flowers outside her kitchen window.
Ann is survived by her husband, Richard; daughter Gina; son Ryan (Rita); grandchildren Drew Proebstel (Cierra), Allison Proebstel (Jacob Wood), and Lauren Proebstel; and great-granddaughter Chandler Wood; sister Kay Barchus; brother-in-law Don Fraley; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Grace Of Christ Presbyterian Church, 9 S 8th Ave, Yakima, WA 98902.
