California. She passed away on April 29, 2025, at the age of 83. Barbara had a deep love
for the beach, scuba diving, reading books, and enjoying movie nights with her family. In
February 1981, she moved to Naches, Washington, where she embraced the mountains,
fishing, and camping.
In California, Barbara worked at Carter Bowl, a 40-lane bowling alley in Fullerton, as a
bartender and waitress where she cherished interacting with patrons. After moving to
Washington, she continued her work at Whistling Jack Lodge in the same roles. Barbara
sought outpatient treatment in 1983 for substance use disorder. Inspired by her journey,
she became a substance use counselor, working at various centers including detox
facilities, Sundown M Ranch, and Promises. She took great pride in helping others find
freedom from addiction.
Barbara was known for her loving, caring, and compassionate nature, yet she could be
tough when necessary. She celebrated 42 years of sobriety in January and often
expressed joy that her granddaughters never saw her in addiction.
Barbara is survived by her children and their spouses: William Boelter and his wife
Beverly, Sean Boelter, and Elizabeth Boelter and her wife Treva Harmon. She had four
granddaughters: Jessica Boelter, Samantha Boelter, Shannon Boelter, and Chandler
Bowell and her husband EJ Bowell. She also had one great-granddaughter, Emerald
Bowell, along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Michael and Edith Myers;
her mother and stepfather, Bernice and Robert Oakley; her brother, Bucky Myers; her
sister, Dorothy Frye; and her two sons, Michael Boelter and Jeffery Boelter.
A small family gathering will be held in her memory, with no formal service. She will be
profoundly missed and fondly remembered by many for her unwavering love and
dedication to others. In her honor, contributions may be made to organizations
dedicated to supporting individuals with substance use disorders.
