Barbara Wilhelm Stevenson, age 59, passed away on Jan. 15, 2020 at her home in Naches, Washington. Barb was raised in Egelsbach, Germany. She met her first husband Joe Martone while he was stationed in Frankfurt. In 1979 they married in Copenhagen, Denmark. After Joe’s discharge in 1980 they moved to Anchorage, AK and had their son Danny in 1981. Though Barb and Joe divorced in 1982, they remained friends through the years.
Barb met her husband Larry in 1984. They married in 1988. She and Larry moved to Washington state and for the past 19 years they worked alongside each other, running Nile Valley Game and Processing. Before working in the meat processing industry, Barb held a number of other jobs, including as a dental assistant, cook, and clerk. Never pretentious, Barb was open to working any job. Wherever Barb was her smile and laughter lit the room. Those who had the opportunity to meet her easily fell in love with her warm heart, infectious smile, and her great sense of humor. Barb’s big heart extended to animals, too, with a soft spot for any creature that was injured or abandoned. Her pets included dogs, cats, horses, chickens, iguanas, and even a raccoon. There is no replacing the amount of love and joy Barb spread. She will be forever loved and missed.
Barb is survived by Larry (husband), Danny (son), Erica (daughter-in-law), Emily Elizabeth (granddaughter), Albert (brother), Gabby (sister), Roland (brother), Bernard (brother), and Joerg (brother).
