

Bernadette Marie Bernier Chaussee, a loved mother, sister, and daughter, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the age of 59. The eldest of fifteen children born to Raoul and Rosemary (L’Heureux) Bernier, Bernadette was born April 24, 1957 in Yakima, Washington. She attended grade and high school in Selah, WA and went on to attend South Seattle Community College.
Bernadette worked in food service and landscaping jobs directly out of high school prior to attending carpentry trade school in 1978 in Seattle, WA. During her time at carpentry school, Bernadette was featured in The Carpenter magazine in August of 1981 while she worked on Gompers School in Seattle. She continued work as a carpenter in the Seattle and Yakima areas until she was injured and no longer able to work. In 1990, Bernadette purchased a home in Moses Lake, WA where she resided until her death.
Bernadette is survived by her parents, Raoul and Rosemary of Selah, WA; three daughters: MaryElizabeth (and Derry) of Selah, WA; Krystal of Seattle, WA; and Odette of Butte, MT; one son, Jeremiah (and Annie) of Bellingham, WA; ten brothers: Raoul John, Shawn, Marc, Brett, Shad, Jamie, Shane, Dustin, Jason, and Cory; four sisters: Annette, Colette, Melissa, and Joanna; 15 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family in care of Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 902 W. Yakima Ave., Yakima, WA 98902.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Yakima, WA on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 10 am.
