Betty Jane Evans

Betty Jane Evans passed away Jan. 11, 2016 at the age of 92, after a short illness. She was born Feb. 15, 1923 in Ulen, MN to William and Hannah Fevig, the second of four daughters. After high school she worked in Minneapolis and Chicago, then married Mark H. Evans in 1949. They moved with their young family to Yakima, in 1954 after he graduated Pharmacy School, where they raised seven children and spent most of their lives.

Betty enjoyed reading, quilting, and a nice glass of white wine, but her family brought her the most joy and made her the most proud. After her husband, Mark, died, Betty moved to Spokane to be nearer her daughters. She was also predeceased by her parents, by her sisters, June, Lois, and Helen, and by her granddaughter, Lizzie.

She is survived by her children, Carol Gonnason, Jane Schreiner (John), Peter Evans, Patti Glover (Brian), Andy Evans (Helen), Laura Wight (Ted), and Marcia Jensen (John); by fourteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00, Saturday, Feb. 6, in the Holy Family Parish Chapel, with inurnment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
