Betty L Longmire

Betty Longmire, of Yakima, Washington, passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family, following complications from a stroke she suffered in late April. She was 78 years old.

Betty was born on December 28, 1947, in Newport, Arkansas, to L.G. and Marie Hunt. As a young child, her family moved to Washington, where she was raised and graduated from Wenatchee High School. Soon after graduation, she made Yakima her home.

On May 22, 1976, Betty married the love of her life, Stephen Longmire, in Yakima. Together they built a life rooted in faith, love, and devotion to family. On June 15, 1979, they welcomed their daughter, Carly, who remained one of Betty's greatest blessings.

Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished every moment spent with her family and found her greatest joy in watching them grow.

As a teenager in Wenatchee, Betty dedicated her life to Jehovah by being baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Her faith remained the foundation of her life, and she faithfully served Jehovah until her stroke in April.

Betty had a passion for cooking and loved trying new recipes. She could spend hours searching for just the right dish to prepare for her family and friends and somehow she always found recipes that became favorites.

She also loved the Oregon Coast, especially Gleneden Beach, a place visited many times throughout her life.

Another of Betty's favorite pastimes was shopping—not for the sake of buying things, but simply for the joy of browsing. She could happily spend hours exploring stores, and trips to Leavenworth were among her favorite outings. At home, one of Betty's greatest joys was spending time in her own backyard. She lovingly cared for her flowers and plants, creating a beautiful space. She especially enjoyed sitting beside her pond, listening to the soothing sound of the waterfall while admiring the blooms she had nurtured. It was one of her favorite places to relax.

Those who knew Betty will remember her quiet strength, unwavering faith, caring heart, and the love she poured into her family and friends. Even through life's challenges, she remained steadfast and resilient. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and enduring love will forever be treasured by those who knew her.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Stephen Longmire; her daughter, Carly Longmire; her grandchildren, Brendon Corbray, Aaliyah Corbray, and Ebony Corbray; and her beloved great-granddaughter, Mariah Corbray. She also leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, and her spiritual family, all of whom will miss her deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents, L.G. and Marie Hunt.

A memorial service celebrating Betty's life will be held the 8th of August at 2pm at Kingdom Hall 2506 W Mead Ave. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend as they gather to remember Betty's life, her faith, and the hope she cherished.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who offered prayers, love, support, and kindness throughout Betty's illness and passing. Your compassion has been a source of great comfort during this difficult time.

Though our hearts are broken, we find peace in God's promise of a time when "death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore." Betty held firmly to that hope, and we look forward to the day when we will see her again.
