Brad was born on July 12, 1956, in Yakima, Washington, to Wilma and Myrlin Ackerman. He graduated from Davis High School in 1975.
Cars were one of Brad’s lifelong passions. He worked in the family business pumping gas and washing cars and later worked in other areas of the automotive industry. He enjoyed building model cars and spending time in the pits at Yakima Speedway. Brad took great pride in keeping his own car in immaculate condition.
Quiet and unassuming by nature, Brad found joy in life’s simple pleasures — watching his tulips bloom, enjoying cheesy Hallmark movies, and singing along to the greatest hits of Pink Floyd. Some of his favorite memories were made traveling to Hawaii, Las Vegas, and on an Alaskan cruise. In later years, he especially enjoyed trips to Spokane to visit cousins.
Brad was an enthusiastic sports fan. He cheered faithfully for the Seahawks and Eastern Washington Eagles, but his greatest loyalty belonged to the University of Washington Huskies. He loved gathering with friends at the local sports bar to root for his favorite teams.
Brad was preceded in death by his parents, Wilma and Myrlin Ackerman, and his sister, Donna. He is survived by his brothers, Paul and Jerry, and by his constant companion and brother, Michael.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026, in the chapel at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, followed by lunch in the parish hall. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery.
