Brian Robert Burns, age 79, passed away on August 14, 2022, in Yakima, Washington. He was born January 29, 1943, in Winona Minnesota to John “Bob” and Norma (Veir) Burns. His family moved to Port Gamble and later Poulsbo where he graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1961. He later attended Olympic Junior College and New Mexico State University. Brian also served in the Army until his Honorary Discharge.
Brian married Linda Nation and had one child (Kristine) in 1971, moving to Gleed shortly thereafter. He worked as a Teamster, longshoreman, fisherman, route driver for UPS, and a professional athlete. He also owned a business (Sullivan’s Cleaners) and as a realtor for 40 years until his retirement in 2020.
Often you would find Brian playing handball, racquetball and basketball at the YMCA in Yakima. He also enjoyed fishing and riding horses. He spent many hours buying homes and rehabbing them for resale in his later life.
Brian is survived by his daughter, Kristine (Rod) Chumley, grandchildren Clayton and Emma Chumley of Selah, sister, Nadean (Garry) Johnson of Ft. St. John BC Canada. Nephews are Brian, Scott and Eric and nieces Terry and Nicole.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Norma Burns, and his brother, Bruce Burns. In keeping with his wishes no services are planned but donations could be made to the YMCA of Yakima or Camp Prime Time.
