Bud Larson, 87, passed away suddenly February 26, 2015 of heart problems.
He was born September 1, 1927 to Albert and Ella (Sorenson) Larson in Yakima, Washington. Even though he was born premature, he grew up to be a man with strong principles and ambition. During high school he enjoyed baseball and was able to impress a few coaches with his pitching, with a few shut-outs. This was an example of his determination that followed him through his life.
Other strong principles he lived by was to forgive, never holding a grudge, treating others with respect, and he was very diplomatic and a good listener.
He brought his bride to Tieton in January of 1954 to raise apples and raise their three children, Connie, Barb and Kevin, where we all learned a lot. He enjoyed bowling and all the people he bowled with. In his years of elk hunting he bagged 17 elk, and salmon fishing was another sport he enjoyed. He made a lot of jerky, pepperoni and smoked salmon. He usually carried a supply with him to share with those he knew would enjoy it. He enjoyed trout fishing with Kevin and Lynn in Alaska and Canada.
He spent three years in the Coast Guard where he was a Yeoman. He was able to meet some lifelong friends and do a few favors for the boys from Yakima when they were in port and needed a pass.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife, Jean Larson of Tieton, children, Connie (Lynn) Harris of Tieton, Barb Evans (Tim, deceased) of Yakima, and Kevin (Julie) Larson of Yakima; grandchildren, Jessalynn, Keegan, Kimmy, Joe, Marianne and Amy and four great grandchildren, and his sister, Donna Eckman of Yakima.
A Memorial service will be held at Rainier Memorial Center, 2807 Terrace Heights Dr., on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
