Carl W. Anderson, 93, longtime Yakima resident, passed away August 8, 2011. He was born October 27, 1917 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to George and Agnes Anderson. He spent his early years working on the family farm until he joined the Salvation Army at the age of 23. He served in the US Army during WWII in the Philippines, part of the time as a chaplain's assistant in General MacArthur's headquarters. He married Louise Pinkston February 27, 1948 and they made their home in Keenesburg, Colorado. In 1950 they moved to Yakima where he was a self-employed general contractor, remodeling and building homes in the area. He was a longtime member of Central Assembly of God where he played the organ and taught Sunday School for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Marvin. He is survived by Louise, his loving wife of 63 years, one brother, Grant (Jackie) and one sister, Marian, both of Yakima, three sons, Douglas of Tempe, AZ, Gary (Judith) and Ron (Judy) both of Seattle, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held at the Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, August 12. A graveside service will be held at West Hills Memorial Park on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. with full military honors. A memorial service will follow at Central Assembly of God, 701 S. 3rd Ave. Yakima beginning at 11:00 a.m. Memorials can be made to the missions fund at Central Assembly of God.
