Carol Elizabeth Brown

Yakima, Washington - Carol Elizabeth (Lyhne) Brown, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in the arms of the Lord on December 12th, 2025 -- surrounded by her loving family.

Carol was born October 19, 1946, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to Peter and Rosemary Lyhne.

She immigrated to the United States with her family as a child, March 03, 1954.

Carol graduated from high school in Great Falls, MT, where she met a hot rodder named Jim Brown. They dated for several years before getting married on November 22, 1964.

Jim joined the Navy and they began building a beautiful life together. They went on to raise two boys, Jim and Andy, whom she was very proud of and supported with unwavering love and devotion. Carol was her sons' biggest fan and cheerleader and was always there at every BMX race, wrestling match, and track meet. Carol and Jim had a lifelong love affair that was inspiring to anyone who bore witness to them.

Carol was well known in our community from her role as a grocery checker at Wray's Thriftway because of the hugs that she gave to all of her customers. People would stand in line at Carol's check stand just to receive that gesture of warmth and kindness. One time Carol was even featured in the local newspaper because of this. She was kind to everyone she met and was a "people magnet" wherever she went.

Carol (Nana) had 5 grandchildren whom she loved deeply. She took pride in their accomplishments and always made sure they knew how much she loved them "A bushel and a peck."

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Holidays and special occasions will not be the same without her, but her memory will be cherished forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Carol's legacy of generosity, love, and kindness will continue to live on through her family and everyone she touched in her life. Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jim Brown; parents Peter & Rosemary Lyhne; sister Shirley Guza; and brother-in-law Mike Guza.

She is survived by her sons Jim Brown (Regina) and Andy Brown (Stacey); and her grandchildren: Bella Brown, Maggie Brown, Gavin Brown, Phoebe Brown, and Lilly Brown.

A Celebration Of Life will be held in the summer of 2026.
