February 19, 1915 to September 7, 2010
Casimir Schell was born February 19, 1915 Charleston, Wisconsin, then was brought as a child to the Rupert, Idaho area where he lived for most of his life. He attended Pershing and Big Bend Schools and worked as a crew leader for the CCC Blister Rust Camp near Grangeville, Idaho.
After marrying Martha Freiburger November 27, 1941 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Rupert, he sold his milk truck to buy a small farm in Heyburn. Starting from scratch and a milk cow, he and Martha grew sugar beets, alfalfa, and wheat; and, through much hard work and sacrifice, raised seven healthy children. They sold their farm in 1985 and retired comfortably to Jerome and then to Washington state.
Casimir was known for his love of fishing and camping; honesty, thriftiness, efficiency; the ability to manage a farm and build a house; a sense of moral rightness and duty; care and concern for his wife and children; generosity to those in need; and faithfulness to Catholic principles.
He is survived by Martha his wife of 69 years; seven children: Rosemary Luckett, Peter Schell, Madaline Rodeen, Jo Bramwell, Mike Schell, Lucy Chaffin, and Casimir Schell; 20 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and by half sister Catherine Bourner.
