Charles G. Row Sr., born September 21, 1934, 84 years old; son of Maurice and Melissa Row; his siblings included Herbert Row, Edna Triplett, Frank Row, Inez Barefoot, and Margaret Crawford; born and grew up in Texas and moved to Yakima after being stationed at the military training station in Selah; left to go fishing and be with his loved ones.
He attended high school at Abilene High School in Texas where he enjoyed playing basketball. He joined the Army after high school and was stationed at the training center in Selah, Washington when he met the love of his life Verla M. Row. After serving in the Army and back in Texas he decided to return to Yakima and ask Verla to marry him. They had five children, Charles Row Jr, Robert Row, David Row, Vicki McDougall, and Douglas Row. They both worked to support their family and decided that Charles would attend J.M. Perry Technical Institute’s Electrical program. He worked for various electrical contractors including Electro Mart, Wilson Electric and Knobel Electric. He also worked at Weyerhaeuser with his son David before retiring. He enjoyed talking about how electrical things worked and taught me (Douglas) how to program PLC’s using a PLC he had in the basement of our house.
Dad enjoyed all sports and spent many years as a Grid Kid football coach mentoring youth of East Yakima, Terrace Heights and Moxee. He won the championship one year then decided to retire from coaching.
Dad loved fishing with Mom and spent many years fishing the lakes of Central Washington, they eventually bought a home in Coulee City, Washington. They spent most of their time fishing in tournaments and visiting with their friends they had met through the years. Dad always enjoyed sharing information about how to catch the fish. They were members of Columbia Basin and Mid Columbia Walleye Clubs.
Charles is survived by his children; Chuck Jr. and Shannon, Bob and Cheryl, David and Rachel, Vicki, Doug and Suzie; his sisters Inez and Margaret; Grandchildren Jonathon Youngblood Row, Kristen Row, Amanda Stevens, Rocky Row, Brandon Row and Sydney Row; Ryan Mundell, Tony and Sonya Esteves; greatgrandchildren; Jade Potts, Atreya Stevens, Blaine Row, Rayden Row, Kasen Row, Prudence Row, Tony Esteves Jr., Taylor Esteves, and Andrea McEntire; Lifetime friends Marilyn Dennison, Dale and Isabelle Farnsworth and their families.
Visitation is at Keith and Keith Funeral Home, 902 W Yakima Avenue on Monday June 24th, 2019 from 10am to 12pm. Funeral Service will also be at Keith and Keith Funeral Home on Monday June 24th, 2019 at 12pm following with a procession to Terrace Heights Memorial Park for a Graveside Service.
