Clinton Edward Chittock went to be in the presence of the Lord on December 9, 2018 at the age of 99.
He was born to William Levi Chittock and Ettie Jane Chittock on September 30, 1919 in Ashton, Idaho. That same year they moved to Eugene, Oregon, making their home in Santa Clara, a suburb of Eugene. Clinton graduated from Santa Clara High School in 1937 as the Salutatorian of his class. He began working in commercial printing in 1939 and continued until 1983, when he retired after 28 years with Shields Bag and Printing Company. He also spent 3-1/2 years in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. He was stationed at Rattlesnake Bomber Base in Pyote, Texas and performed maintenance on B-17 bombers. He was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant in 1945. In 1952 he felt called to enter Central Washington Bible College in Selah, Washington. Following his graduation in 1957, he pastored the Nile Community Church for 4-1/2 years, then taught at Central Washington Bible College until 1975.
On November 1, 1941 he met Winifred Marie Rutherford at a dance in Eugene. Shortly thereafter, Marie sold him a house, which he agreed to buy on one condition: that she would live in it with him. She said “yes”, and they married on January 1, 1942. Together they enjoyed a wonderful marriage guided by the principles of the Bible, and their love for one another was obvious to all. Even their daily walks were taken hand-in-hand, and they became affectionately known as “Selah’s walking couple”.
Clinton and Marie volunteered at Rio Grande Bible Institute in Edinburg, Texas for seven years in the late 80s and early 90s. During those years, he taught Sunday School at their church in Edinburg. In later years, when they wintered in Yuma, Arizona, he taught a weekly Bible class at the trailer park where they lived. He also had the opportunity to teach Sunday School at their church in Selah.

Clinton is survived by his wife of nearly 77 years, Winifred Marie Chittock, their four daughters—Susan Wells (Phil), Lynnette Nilsen, Carla Hull (Larry), and Heather Hinze (Greg)—as well as seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brothers Cleo Chittock and Charles Chittock; his sister, Lola Hoiting; son-in-law, Chuck Nilsen; and daughter, Sharon Patrick.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 22nd, 2018 at 1:00 at Yakima Alliance Church, 902 South 36th Avenue.
