As an infant she emigrated to France with her parents and grew-up in the village of Bemont, France. Towards the end of WWII she attended her cousin’s wedding and sat across the table from a handsome American GI, our father, Sydney Warren. Their life together was a storybook love story. They married in January 1949, in Bemont, France, and they arrived in Yakima on April 24, 1949. She became an American citizen and together our parents had seven children.
She enjoyed being a mother, imparting upon us sayings and traditions both of Polish and French origin. Later in life she loved being a “Memere” to her grandchildren and enjoyed making buttermilk pancakes for breakfast, having their little hands helping her. She was fortunate to return to France on many occasions to visit her parents, sister and family. She was able to take a trip with her sister to her homeland of Poland where she visited the home she, and her mother, had been born in. Although separated by an ocean and thousands of miles, she shared a close relationship with her sister.
She is survived by her children Wendy (Lonny Smart); Sherry (Fuji Adachi); Vaughn (Debbie); Bryan (Pam); Nathan (Theresa); Nadine; and Philip (Kelly); grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her family in France, her sister, Felicie Nowaczkowski; niece Florence (Jean-Pierre) Harmant; nephew Philippe (Linda) Nowaczkowski; and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents and our father.
Memorial service will be Saturday, December 15, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Family Fellowship, 606 S. 13th Avenue, Yakima. Keith and Keith Funeral Home is caring for the family, www.keithandkeith.com.
