Dale Dawson Addington

Dale D. Addington, Palm Springs, CA passed away November 10, 2013. Mr. Addington was born July 28, 1931 in Yakima, WA and passed away. He was 82 yrs old.

Mr. Addington was a graduate of Selah High School in 1949.

Mr. Addington essentially worked his entire career for Pacific Power and Light Company in various service areas of the company. Those areas include Yakima, WA, where he entered the company's work force digging power poles by hand for the company. He progressed to groundman, truck driver and heavy equipment operator.

This was his first assignment. Progressing through line construction duties, he was moved to the company's head office as an engineer construction accountant.

At this time in his career, he was drafted into the US Army Signal Corp. Mr. Addington spent 2 yrs with 18 months stationed in Korea from 1952 to1954. He always joked about being sent to Korea to end the war. Returning home, he returned to Pacific Power and attended night school at Portland State College. He studied accounting and engineering construction specifications. His second assignment included maintaining and refinishing of wooden hotline equipment and other designated tasks given by line superintendent.

His third assignment was in Seaside, OR as local manager including Canon Beach and Tolovana Park. He lived there during the 1962 tsunami. He then transferred to Sunnyside, WA as extension engineer and later transferred to Stayton, OR as assistant local manager. He then went on to Roseburg, OR as district manager. From Roseburg, OR he was returned to Yakima, WA as assistant division manager in charge of Yakima, Wapato, Toppenish, Zillah, Granger and surrounding areas. He then transferred to Casper, WY as Casper District Manager, the company's largest operating district and ending his career in IdahoThroughout his entire career,

Mr. Addington spent many hours serving on various committees as chairman in many districts improving and benefiting communities in which he served such as construction of a new city hall in Roseburg, OR, and a two-year tax plan in Casper, WY for three community projects among other things.

Mr. Addington always expressed extreme gratitude to Pacific Power and Light Company for the company's support in his endeavors of the community in which they served.

Following his years with Pacific Corp He enjoyed a couple of years travelling and earning his Oregon State Real Estate License. He was a realtor for ten years.

Mr. Addington is survived by his wife, Norma Addington; sister, Jean Owens of Selah, WA; two daughters, [an Sherrick of Woodburn, OR, and Susan Jack of Indio, CA and one son, Alan D. Addington of Spokane, WA; four grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

A Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 18, 2013 at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel with burial following at Tahoma Cemetery.
