Dale W. Hargraves was born July 19, 1943 in Kirkland, WA; he died on April 22, 2014 in Yakima, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Virginia Hargraves and an older brother Don Hargraves.
Surviving him are his children: Reva (Dale) Ann Lowrey of Las Vegas, NV, Keith Hargraves of Kissimmee, FL; grandsons, Rob of Yakima, WA and Mike of Las Vegas, NV; great granddaughter, Bailey of Yakima; aunts, Marg and Viete of Yakima; brother, Jerry of Yakima; sister, Terry Lee of Selah; five nephews and many cousins.
Dale grew up in Yakima playing at his parents’ grocery store on East Lenox, which is now Nob Hill Blvd. It has been noted that if it was quiet he could be found sleeping on the shelf behind the loaves of bread.
He was proud of the time he spent in the early 60’s in the United States Navy. He told us of his time on board the ship he was on. It was anchored 60 miles off the Vietnam shore. At night laying in their bunks they could hear the bombing on shore.
He was most proud of his children Reva Ann Lowrey and Keith, and all their accomplishments in life. Dale was also very proud of his grandsons; Rob and Rob’s little brother Mike, and great granddaughter, Bailey who is Rob’s daughter.
Dale joined the Yakima Ridge Runners, “The World’s First Jeep Club”, in the 70’s and enjoyed many years of jeeping, camping, bonfires and dancing. He also enjoyed Father’s Day runs with the guys, and runs with the whole family. He loved the Mud Races in the Jeep Bowl.
His wishes were to be cremated. To have no service with a bunch of blubbering, but to have his ashes scattered on Darlin Mountain. The DNR says that shouldn’t be a problem in June or July when the mud and snow is gone. Dale wanted his friends to have a party before his ashes are spread so we will do that in a few months to make sure he gets to spend eternity in the mountains he loved.
Donations may be made to The Humane Society, through Keith and Keith Funeral Home.
