Dale Allen Maygra, 73, went to his Lord’s calling on February 8, 2026. Dale showed no mercy and fought a courageous battle against health issues and cancer for the past nine years. Unfortunately, the third round of cancer ended up taking our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin and friend. Thanks for giving us nine more years with your tremendous strength and resilience!!
Dale was born November 12, 1952, in Yakima, Washington to Harvey and Anna Mary Maygra (Moser). On August 7, 1978, he married the love of his life Ellen Larson in Yakima.
Dale graduated from Carroll High School in 1971. After high school Dale moved to Port Angeles to attend Peninsula College in pursuit of a BA degree in fisheries and marine biology. During the summer months while attending college he worked for his father (Harvey) at the Hanford Nuclear Site. After completing college, he decided to continue working as a Local 348 Labor at Hanford. Dale exuberated his pride in being a Local 348 Labor union member. In 1978 Dale became the General Labor Foreman over seeing large crews of hard-working dedicated men and women that were responsible for the clean-up and removal of the nuclear waste that was left behind from when Hanford was an active nuclear site. Dale had great stories and many memories of all the projects he was a part of over his 37-year career. Most importantly, and what was so cherished to him was all the wonderful people he worked with and the long-lasting friendships he made over those years. When retirement came calling, he was talked into staying two additional years as a Field Supervisor before retiring at the age of 57 in 2009.
Dale was a very modest man who valued and enjoyed the simple things of life. Spending time with family and friends over a meal, back yard BBQ, favorite refreshment, hunting camp, dropping a line in his favorite fishing holes or while sitting on his deck watching the sun rise and set over the hill tops of Cleman Mountain were the things Dale held close to his heart and never let go. The beautiful scenery of mother nature and everything it had to offer always made Dale smile with pleasure and happiness. When looking across the lake and seeing the surrounding geography reflect into the calm, clear, beautiful sunny waters made him state the obvious, “God’s country, what a lovely site, enjoy it while you can!!” then he would follow-up with, “a bad day of fishing is always better than a good day of working!” Over the years Dale enjoyed bowling, darts, playing pinochle, cribbage, gardening and sport events. He loved attending or rooting on his Washington State Cougars, “That’s another Cougar first down!” Seattle Seahawks, “Go HAWKS”, and Seattle Mariners, “How about them Mariners”. Dale held dear going on cruises, traveling abroad, camping, and more importantly reflecting with friends and family about the good times and memories of the past while creating new memories for the future.
Those who knew Dale will remember him as a kind, patient, trustworthy and loving man who would give his shirt off his back to help someone! Thanks to the long-lasting memories, morals and ethics you not only instilled in the family but in everyone you touched. The good Lord took one of the best and way to DAM early! We love you more than words can ever express!! The thoughts of you fishing wearing your blue Big Mac bids, holding a cold beer and saying “fish on” will be with us forever!! Those times were precious and we look forward to doing it again. Make sure the golden gates are open for us when the Lord comes a calling because you can be assured…., we will do it again!! Rest in peace our loving Dale.
