Dewey Dilbert Dotson was born on October 1, 1933 in Bentonville, Arkansas to James and Irma (lollace) Dotson. He was the youngest of five children. As a child he remembered working the farm behind a mule plow and mounding hay for the winter. He attended Bentonville High school where he played basketball. In 1954, Dewey was drafted into the US Army and served in the 5th infantry division at Ft. Lewis in Tacoma. After serving for 2 years, Dewey was discharged in 1956. In 1955 while serving in the army he met Betty. They were married on November 30, 1956. In 1957 they moved to Kansas City, Missouri where Dewey attended Railroad communication school. They returned to Olympia and Dewey worked as a telegrapher for the Northern Pacific Railroad. He worked in: Olympia, Black River, Tacoma, Easton, Martin, Stampede and Cle Elum. Dewey retired from the Burlington Norther Railroad in 1995 and moved to Yakima in 2001.
Dewey was a great sports fan. He enjoyed bluegrass music, and being with his family. They had many adventures camping, huckleberry picking and being outdoors. As a railroad retiree, he and his family took many train trips.
Dewey is survived by his wife Betty and their three sons Larry, Michael and Eric.
A time for final visitation will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Keith & Keith Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Keith & Keith Funeral Home on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
