Doris was born on June 23, 1930, in Mexico, KY, to Sigler Ira Crider and Stella Mae Martin Crider. She moved to Washington in 1940 and graduated from Toppenish High School in 1948.
Doris worked for many years and eventually retired from Yakima
Federal Savings and Loan. She was an excellent baker, having baked for The Dunes Restaurant in Westport, WA. Doris also loved to cook, garden, and play cards. She was a devout member of Central Lutheran Church in Yakima, WA.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Merrill Eli Benish, and her grandson, Matthew Shane Giovannitti.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Janey Lillegard Andres (Greg), Kirkland, WA, Karen Lillegard Hendrick (Malcolm), Yakima, WA, Ann Lillegard Andersen (Eric), Grapevine, TX, four granddaughters, and one great-granddaughter.
Doris will be buried with her husband, Merrill, at Elmwood Cemetery, Toppenish, WA. Per her request, no memorial service is planned at this time.
