

Doris grew up on a farm in Bonners Ferry, ID. She married Marion T. Gray in Elk, Washington on August 20, 1930. She worked in the fruit industry in the Yakima Valley and Willamette Valley during the Great Depression and in the Portland Shipyard during World War II. Doris worked for J.C. Penney in Yakima for 30 years before retiring in 1975. For the next fifteen years she enjoyed volunteering at St. Elizabeth Hospital, crocheting baby caps for RSVP and afghans for her grandchildren, and traveling with friends and family. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Women’s Century Club, American Business Women of America, and the Tri-K Club.
Doris is survived by her younger sister Viola (Arbie) Kellas of Milwaukie, OR; sister-in-law Helen (Lawrence) Morey of Tillamook, OR; daughters Velma (Keith) Chronister and Judie (Ray) Sanderson of Yakima; son Douglas (Karla) Gray of Yakima, seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, younger brothers Vernon and Lawrence Morey, and younger sister Eileen Carter.

At Doris’ request a Family Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 4, 2011 at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Doris’ name to 1st Presbyrian Church, in care Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 902 W. Yakima Ave., Yakima, WA 98902.
