Doris was the first born child of Claude and Lorraine Lyda, born July 8, 1938 in Joliet, Montana. Doris professed to serve God in Powell, Wyoming in 1949 and stayed true to this calling her entire life. The family lived in Montana, Powell, WY and Chelan, WA before settling in Wenatchee, WA in 1954. She graduated in 1956 from Wenatchee High School; following graduation, she worked at Wells and Wade Hardware.
She married Duane Lloyd Lehrman on June 21, 1958 in Wenatchee. She then moved to Duane’s hometown of Oroville, WA and resided there where they farmed 80 acres of orchards until 1976. While in Oroville their three sons, Leonard Duane, Wesley Lloyd, and Mark Dean, were born. Doris was a wonderful mother who loved watching her boys grow on Lake Osoyoos. After moving from Oroville they resided in Ephrata and Wenatchee before settling in Yakima in 1988. She was blessed with seven grandchildren: Nathan, Kodel, Ashley, Jordan, Kelsi, Kalie and Renee. Doris thrived on being a grandmother and tried to travel to see the girls as often as possible and made it to the boys’ sporting and musical events whenever she could.
Doris was a masterful gardener and loved canning and preserving food. She was a beautiful seamstress and an avid reader. Doris was a gracious hostess and always had an open home. She enjoyed the privilege of worship service in their home for over 20 years.
In 2014 Doris moved to the home of Tom and Leona Pipgras in Ellensburg, where they made her part of their family. She received wonderful, loving care there until the time of her death. The family cannot express enough thanks for the care they provided her in the last years of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane, in 2009, parents Claude Lyda and Lorraine Lyda Stockwell, Harold Stockwell and Duane’s parents, Albert and Emily Lehrman.
