Doris married William Lowe on Nov. 15, 1952 in Oakland, Maryland. They welcomed with great joy their son, William Lane “Lanny” Lowe in 1954. When he was just 2 years old they moved from Pennsylvania to California.
She was diagnosed with Lupus at an early age and lost her eyesight in 1965. She disliked losing her independence due to her illness and hated giving up driving but she made the best of any bad situation.
In 1964 she started studying the Bible with her dear friend Ann Rist. Ann helped her learn Bible truths. Doris loved learning about the paradise earth and the hope of sometime in the future being able to live forever on the earth in peace and regaining her eyesight. She had a very strong relationship with her God, Jehovah and loved him very much. She had a strong faith in his promises and she is now sleeping awaiting the resurrection. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on August 4, 1967. She also enjoyed sharing Bible truths with others and spent much time doing that.
Her husband, Bill, passed away in Sept. 1992 and a few years later she moved to Selah, WA where her son Lanny and daughter-in-law Kim were living. Together they made a little paradise out of their property. She loved country living and enjoyed her flowers, Koi pond, waterfall and beautiful views.
She was known for her love of music, playing the piano and organ and singing. She also had a soft spot in her heart for her furry friends. But she was mostly known for her kindness, generosity, positive attitude and a deep love for Jehovah God.
She is survived by her son, Lanny Lowe and his wife, Kim of Selah, WA; her sister Jean Elliot and her husband Floyd of Illinois; two very close friends, Connie Pflieger of CA and Ann Rist of Selah, WA; several nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to mention.
Services will be held, Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 2 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 21 Quail Meadow Lane, Selah, WA.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Humane Society of Yakima, WA.
