Dorothy "Carolyn" Meyers passed away peacefully September 9, 2023 at the age of 93. Carolyn was born December 21, 1929 in Audrain County, Missouri to Roy and Norma Johnston. Carolyn moved to Yakima in 1943. When Carolyn was 17 years old, her brother, James, and his friend convinced her to go for a ride on Jim's 1947 Indian motorcycle. This was the start of their long relationship. They married March 28, 1951 after Jim graduated from Navy boot camp. They moved to San Diego and lived there for 2 years where their first child Janet was born. In 1954, before Jim went on his second tour, he moved Carolyn back to Yakima. Shortly after Jim was discharged and back home in Yakima, Stephen was born and two years later Karen was born. Carolyn was a stay-at-home mom until she went back to college in 1967 to become a home economics teacher at Davis High School. She went on to obtain her master's degree and became a counselor at Lewis and Clark School until she retired in 1993. Carolyn was a long-time member of Englewood Christian Church where her faith remained strong even though she wasn't able to attend services the past few years. She is survived by her husband James "Jim" Meyers with 72 years of marriage, her children Janet Meyers, Stephen (Yvette) Meyers, Karen Hyatt, four grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brothers Russ and Jim Johnston. Per Carolyn's request there will be no service.
