In his youth, he was a dedicated boy scout and outdoorsman. Doug married Barbara Joyce Jennings on October 8, 1960, and started a family have two sons, Christopher and Russell. Doug’s career with the Washington State Department of Ecology took him all over the state on many adventures. Finally returning to Yakima and the family farm to finish his career with Ecology as a Water Rights Judge. During this time, he also opened the Spring Creek Nursery with his wife Barbara, which they ran together for 10 years. He enjoyed spending time on the farm in his nut orchard, in the mountains hiking and hunting, shooting archery, volunteering at the Yakima Arboretum, beachcombing on the Oregon Coast, and socializing with family and many friends.
Doug lived a full and robust life with many great memories. He will be missed and remembered by all that knew him.
