Eve was always quick to lend a hand, quick with a joke and long winded with her many stories. One of 8 Urlacher siblings, Eve moved to Yakima from the farm in North Dakota in 1936. Here she made her mark and was married to Elmer Martin (Al) in 1950. They were together 57 years and raised 3 children. She was generous with her home often taking in others, family or friends.
Eve was a great cook and was often mobbed at family events for her chocolate sheet cake. She was also a great dancer, yodeler and had a laugh all her own to the last day. Eve was very proud of her career as a waitress for some of the best restaurants of the day, including Wardell’s, The Four Winds and the Yakima Country Club. Few would forget the fun Redhead with the big blue eyes.
Eve was proceeded in death by her husband Elmer in 2007 and her son Steve Martin in 2009.
The family thanks the dedicated staff at Living Care Skilled Nursing Facility where Eve again made many friends and was made to feel loved. Also thanks to our many cousins who remembered Aunty Eve while she was here with us.
There will be a Memorial Service Thursday October 6th, at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome.
Arrangements under the direction of Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home, Yakima, WA.
