

Evagean Mabel Mantey passed away February 13, 2017 at the age of 95. Evagean was born January 24, 1922 in Egeland, ND to Martha Maude Etta Eakright Fuller and Miles Smith Fuller. She lived in Yakima from the time she was a young girl. She graduated from Yakima High School and married Allen E. Mantey, her high school sweetheart, in June 1941.
Evagean worked for many years for Yakima Valley Growers and Shippers Assn. Upon retirement, she enjoyed traveling with Al in their motorhome and playing golf. Her family hosted a surprise 95th birthday party on January 21. She “read” countless audio books, sharing and discussing the stories. She took an annual vacation to Lincoln City, OR with daughter Debbie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Al; her parents, and her only brother, Miles LaVern Fuller. Survivors include her four children, Joan Mantey Coulson (Richard), David Mantey (Kathy), Michael Mantey (Rita), and Debra Mantey Schofield (Darrel); three grandchildren, Jeffrey Alan Coulson (Traci), Deanna Lynn Coulson, Kristine Dawn Mantey-King (Matthew); and three great grandchildren, Sierra N. Coulson, Tyler R. Coulson, and Katheryn King (“Katie” to Great-Gama). Also surviving is special sister-in-law, Elayne Mantey, several nieces and nephews, and her special caregiver and friend, Joyce Burleson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 4-6 p.m. at Langevin El Paraiso Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
