Florence Marie Fleming went to be with the Lord on October 8th, 2022. She was born on May 5, 1927, in North Dakota, to Frank and Helen Vetsch. She moved with her family to Yakima, Washington in 1941, where she graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1946. Florence then married the love of her life, John (Jack) Fleming, in 1948. Together, they had four children, Janice (Garry) Beaty, Carol (Gary) Gooler, James Fleming, and John Jr. (Gwen) Fleming. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Helen Vetsch; three sisters, and two brothers; and her husband John (Jack) Fleming. Florence was employed as the Head Payroll Clerk at Snokist Cannery in Yakima, Washington for 22 years. She then moved to Benton City with her husband, John (Jack), where she became an active member of the Catholic Church. She also served on the supervisory committee for the IBEW Credit Union as a chairperson for three years. Florence and John (Jack) moved back to Yakima to retire. There they became members of the Holy Family Catholic Church and Florence became a homemaker who loved playing bingo, traveling, camping at Twin Lakes, Washington and spending time with family. She was an amazing mother all through her life and anyone who knew her loved her. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. With deepest gratitude, we, the family of Florence Fleming, extend thanks for the many kind acts of sympathy and understanding expressed by thoughtful friends and neighbors. We are eternally grateful. To honor Florence’s memory, we are holding a Celebration of Life Service with a reception to follow, on Thursday, October 27th, at 9:30 am, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5315 Tieton Dr, Yakima, WA 98908.
