Florence L. Lombness

March 2, 1925 - August 24, 2026

Flo was born to Harry and Emma (Collier) Eddy in Yakima, March 2, 1925. She contracted polio as a baby, which caused her deafness. She was educated in Seattle at a lip-reading school. She met our dad, Hank Lombness, here in Yakima while he was at the Firing Center, they were married in her parents’ home in October 1945, after the war.

Mom was a stay-at-home parent of 5 kids; she did work part time at Snokist when the kids were older. In 1971, both parents took a job in Vancouver, WA at the state school for the deaf. She was a houseparent there. She eventually made her way back to Yakima and worked at Damon Howatt archery until her retirement.

Flo was a happy, giving person who never met a stranger! To know her was to love her! Her hobbies included bowling, sewing and crafts. She loved going to church and thought the world of her church family. She loved to travel, (especially the beach) with her deaf friends. They were her tribe!

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hank, her daughter Lily Richmond and Lily’s husband Fred. Her sons Eddie, Gary and Mike. Her grandson Chris Richmond and twin great granddaughters, Abigail and Kayla. And her best friend Jenny Bailey.

She is survived by her daughter Karen Harvey (Les) grandchildren Carey Hawkins (Mark) Tonja Asbell (Tom), Scott Lombness (Ronee), Tara Wallace (Jack) and Ryan Harvey, 6 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Mom lived a full, happy, and spiritual life. She is now with her loved ones in heaven. I would like to thank the caregivers and nurses at Chesterly Meadows MultiCare Hospital and hospice for their care of our mom. Also, a thanks to her Pastor Kevin Jensen for spiritual guidance. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice, or the local Human Society, it would be greatly appreciated.

A funeral service will be held Friday, October 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Summitview Church of Christ, 100 N 72nd Ave, Yakima, WA 98908, with a reception to follow.
