Francis Hugh Wilson died peacefully at home with his son at his side on July 21, 2025, just a month shy of turning 95. His body simply gave out and he was able to fulfill his dream of staying at home.
He was born to Hugh and Alpha Wilson on August 27, 1930, in Yakima, WA. He married Joy Wasson on December 13, 1953. He was a sergeant in the US Army during the Korean War between 1951-1953. He was a radio operator in the midst of heavy fighting. After the war, he attended JM Perry Technical Institute, where he earned an HVAC degree. He worked for many years at Sears as their repairman.
Francis was a member of Ahtanum Pioneer Church for years where he served as Deacon and ran the sound room. He volunteered many hours at the Union Gospel Mission and the Flying H Boys Ranch in his younger years. He loved to camp, pick huckleberries and eat ice cream!
He is survived by his son Charles (Chuck) Wilson, Chuck’s wife Syndie, his step grandchildren and great grandchildren, his sisters Beverly Roy and Barbara Austin and brother Ronald Wilson, many nephews and nieces he enjoyed very much.
He his preceded in death by the love of his life, his beloved wife, Joy Wilson (2009), his son Kenneth Wilson (2013), his two twin brothers Bob and Dick Wilson (both within days of each other in 2021).
Francis’ funeral service will be held at Keith and Keith Funeral Home, 902 W Yakima Ave, on August 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM followed by a graveside service with full military honors at Terrace Heights Memorial Park, 3001 Terrace Heights Dr. beginning at 1:30PM.
Donations can be made to the Union Gospel Mission and Flying H Boys Ranch in his honor.
A special Thank You to Memorial Hospice, and his loving neighborhood friends, Trudy, Bill, Chris, Dale & Rita, Ricardo and Hilda, for being such loving friends to Francis in his last days. Also, many thanks to his special friends Tony & Sally at the Tasty Wok, and CJ and Larry at Trout Lodge. He looked forward to many meals at both places.
