On May 24, we, as a family, start the mourning process for our loved one Franklin (Frank) Vern Rose Sr. Frank began his life on January 8, 1938 in Burns, Oregon to Fernadelle (Vern) Rose and Adabelle Schoffield Rose. Robert Lee and Kenneth Rodney followed.
The family moved to Dayton, WA in 1947. Franks father had an auto body and paint shop in his small garage. This is where Frank learned his trade. In 1954 Frank would meet the love of his life Lila Ann Graham. He called her Sugar. They wed on August 14, 1958 and were married for 55 years. They had 3 children, Franklin Vern Rose Jr. (wife Racheal), Debra Jo Rose Franck (husband Joe), and Jonathan Luke Rose (wife Tammy). Frank and Lila were foster parents for 35 years and during time they added 4 more children to their family. Billie Ann Palmer Maggard, Julius Dearte', Bryan Barry and Gary Swan. The family enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing. Frank loved to pan for gold and he would gather likely looking soil and pan for it when he got home. Frank had 17 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
Franks passion though was auto racing. He started racing in Stockton, CA at Stockton 99 Speedway. They later moved to Spokane and he raced there. His son Frankie said it was a funny looking car with a combination of different auto body parts. He later raced at Yakima Speedway with car number 01. In 1979 he won Yakima Speedway Sportsman Division Championship. A longtime friend said now Frank will have a front row seat to all the races. Frank was a member of the Terrace Heights Ward of Latter Day Saints.
As Frank passed from his earthly estate he was met by the open arms of his daughter Debra Jo, brother Robert and his parents Vern and Adabelle where we "are received into a state of happiness which is called paradise, a state of rest, a state of peace, where they rest from all their troubles and from all care and sorrow." Alma 40:12.
