

He graduated from Omak High School in 1945 and spent the next two years in the Navy.
He later attended WSU in Pullman and graduated from EWCE in Cheney.
Gerald married his high school sweetheart, Alma Wright in 1947 and they would have celebrated 65 years of marriage this July.
He taught school and coached in Twisp, Leavenworth and Wenatchee for a total of 14 years.
During these years he was active in the Air Force reserves and was recalled to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He was assigned as an instructor at Officer’s Training School in San Antonio, TX. Other assignments included Moses Lake, Wiesbaden, Germany, Colorado Springs, the U.S. Embassy in Rome, Italy, the Pentagon in D.C., and the last tour of duty in St. Louis.
His wife accompanied him and they traveled extensively while living in Europe.
In 1981 he retired as a Lt. Col. and they settled in the Zillah area where they earlier purchased a home and apple orchard. After ten years they sold the property and moved to Yakima.
He became a member of Apple Valley Kiwanis and also served as president.
He and his wife spent 20 years RVing in the south each winter.
His remains will be buried at Malott Cemetery with other family members.
Surviving him is his wife, Alma,his sister Mary of Spokane and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
