He did farm work in Walla Walla as a young man. Gerald worked for Sundale orchards for twenty years following a heart attack he worked at Boise Cascade as a guard.
He is predeceased in death by his parents and two brothers John (Jack) and Arthur. He is survived by his wife, Genevieve; son, Robert McKinney; six grandchildren.
