We are celebrating the life of our sweet, beloved Mother, Nana, and Great-Grandma, Trudy Louise Cargill. Trudy went to be with her Lord Jesus on April 7, 2024 in Yakima, WA. She was born on November 1, 1932 in Colfax, WA to Arthur F.S. Langmas and Ethel (Settergren) Langmas. Trudy had two older brothers, Fred and Sam. She grew up in Pullman, WA and graduated from Pullman High School in 1950. Trudy attended WSU and was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She graduated with a degree in Child Development. Trudy met the love of her life, Richard Cargill, at WSU. She and Rich were married in Pullman, March 20, 1954. They raised four daughters, Karen, Laura, Nancy and Jana.
Richard and Trudy celebrated 68 years of marriage until Rich’s death in 2022.
One of Trudy’s many gifts was making life-long friendships, whether in Pullman, Endicott, Wenatchee, or Yakima. She loved her friends, and they loved her.
Trudy and Rich were active members of Yakima First Presbyterian Church (now Grace of Christ) and were deacons for many years. Trudy was involved in Bible studies, PEO, Pi Phi, and bridge groups. Trudy taught kindergarten for several years. She realized her dream and got her nursing degree, proudly earning a 4.0 GPA. Trudy was an RN at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Yakima for 25 years. After their retirements, Trudy and Rich traveled abroad, sailed in their sailboat, spent time at their cabin, and enjoyed time with their family. Mom loved flowers and enjoyed working in her garden. She also loved to dance with Dad and take care of her cats.
Most of all, Trudy was a devoted wife to Richard, amazing mother, doting Nana and Great Grandma. She is survived by her daughters Karen (John) Rasmussen of Yakima, Laura (Dan) Wodrich of Richland, Nancy (Rick) Orozco of Pasco, and Jana (Tony) Kirschner of Yakima; Grandchildren: Katie (Todd) Zeidler, Johnny Rasmussen, Peter (Melissa) Rasmussen, Angela (Scott) Breitbach, Jennifer Wodrich, Lindsey (Evan) Robicheau, Ryan (Esther) Orozco, Karly (Jason) Cowman, Reggie (Shawna) Orozco, Tessa (Andy) Doan, and Taylor (Jaimie) Elmo; as well as 28 Great-Grandchildren. We all adored and loved her so much.
A special heartfelt thank you to all of Trudy’s loving caregivers: Alejandra, Marybel, Louise, Anna, Miriam and Heilda; Fieldstone Adult Family Care and Amber, Gabby, Jeanette and Lisa at Ohana House.
A memorial service will take place at 1:00 pm on May 3, 2024 at Grace of Christ Church, Yakima.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Grace of Christ Church or PEO’s Cottey College.
