Gilbert served with the Army Reserve 737th Transportation Company during its 1968-69 tour in Vietnam. Gilbert was honorably discharged from the Army Reserve on January 20, 1970. Gilbert worked at Inland Fruit in Wapato, WA for 30+ years and worked his way up to be a Dock Foreman. Gilbert retired from Inland Fruit in 2000-2001. Gilbert loved spending time with his family, watching his western movies, t.v. shows, and especially watching the Mariners and the Seahawks games.
Gilbert loved his family with his whole heart and always gave of himself to see the joy in others. Gilbert is survived by his two sons: Rick Armijo and Jerry Armijo, his granddaughter, Tiffany Armijo, and his two brothers: Robert Armijo and Dan Armijo.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca “Louise” Armijo, his father, Abel Armijo, his mother, Nellie (Telles) Armijo, his brothers: Jessie Armijo and David Armijo, and his sisters: Pat Martinez, Annie Cordova, and Viola Armijo.
Visitation will be held at Langevin El Paraiso Funeral Home, 1010 W. Yakima Avenue on Thursday April 18, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be held at Rainier Memorial Center, 2807 Terrace Heights Drive, Yakima on Friday, April 19, 2019 at 10:00 AM.
