Glen was born on March 22, 1927 to Everett and Rhoda Herron in Goldendale, Washington. The family lived in several different places throughout southeastern Washington and the Columbia Gorge before settling in the Yakima Valley.
It was in Yakima that Glen met the love of his life, Eula May Teel. But at the time, World War II still raged on. Glen joined the United States Navy in 1945 and was preparing to ship out to the Pacific Theater when, in September of that year, the war fortuitously ended. Glen wasted no time in securing his honorable discharge and returned home to Yakima where he, like a whirlwind, promptly won Eula’s hand in marriage and, thus, began their life together.
Glen and Eula worked various jobs throughout eastern Washington, but eventually settled permanently in Yakima where he built their Ahtanum-Valley home and where they raised their three devoted children, Peggy, Richard and Kimberly.
To support his growing family, Glen worked for over 30 years for the Weyerhaeuser Company in Union Gap. While there, he made many lifelong friends and acquaintances whom he cherished.
Glen was a devoted outdoorsman and enjoyed horseback riding, camping, hunting and fishing throughout eastern Washington and the Cascades. Many of his adventures are still discussed at family gatherings.
How does one describe in only a few short lines 99 years of life? One cannot, except to say that Glen lived a good life, was loved and will be greatly missed.
Glen was preceded in death by his father and mother, Everett and Rhoda, his sister, Lois, and his beloved wife, of 72 years, Eula.
Glen is survived by his children, Peggy Herron Schaffer (Jim), Richard Herron (Kim), Kimberly Weedin (Chris), his grandchildren, Thatcher and McKinnley, and his many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Avamere Englewood Heights and its hospice center for their kindness and professional care.
A Funeral Service and reception will be held at Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 902 West Yakima Ave, Yakima, WA 98902, US, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
