Heather M Dickey

Heather Marie (Lyons) Dickey, 58, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 2, 2016 In Yakima. She was born on August 25, 1957 in Seattle to Edward W. and Peggy M. (Yearout) Lyons Adler. Heather graduated from Davis High School in 1975 and attended Central Washington University. She married the love of her life, Michael Dickey, on January 19, 1980.

She and Mike owned a 7-Eleven in Toppenish for 11 years. Heather then went to work for the Yakima School District as an Administrative Assistant until she retired in 2009.

Heather loved listening to music, dancing, and her sense of humor was second to none. She truly enjoyed spending time with her large extended family, especially her sisters and brothers whom she loved dearly. She was the glue that held the sisters together – “we were her favorites and she was definitely ours.” You could always find her puttering around the house in her apron, cooking and hosting gatherings for family and friends. She also loved spending time at the family cabin. When her grandbabies arrived, they became her entire world. She was their “Ma D”. She loved giving them all of her time and love.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Michael; two daughters Chaundra Cooper (Josh) and Shannon Hubbard (Rudd McClory), and three grandchildren Rylan and Addison Hubbard and Vance Cooper, her brothers and sisters Don Lyons, Vicki Hedrington, Debbie Lyons-Farley, Cherie, Bruce, Brad Adler, Marie Sumpter and Teresa Siebert and numerous cousins, extended family and very dear friends.

Heather was preceded in death by her parents including her, step-dad A.D. Adler, step-brother Doug and granddaughter, Lauren Hubbard.

A celebration of her life will be held from 1pm-4pm Sunday, July 17th, 2016, at Spring Creek Homestead in Union Gap.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent in her honor to the OHSU Foundation, Portland, OR where she received outstanding care.
