Helen led a nomadic life traveling from state to state with her husband Paul Madison who was in the construction trade. They finally settled in Selah Washington in 1968 and made their forever home in the Wenas Valley where they farmed 30 acres as well as other acreage. Helen managed Madison Quarter horses that specialized in cutting horses which was a lifelong dream of her and Paul’s. Together they supported and encouraged their 3 children in their endeavors whether it be sports, the art of raising livestock, or rodeos. She was especially proud and supportive of her children, Verna and Rod Madison for their military service. Helen loved being a rodeo mom. In her youth, she followed the circuit as a trickrider. She was a superb homemaker and gardener. She had a passion for anything with 4 legs. She enjoyed antique hunting, quilting and being outside; preferably, at the barn she had several jobs throughout her lifetime, which she always excelled at. By far her favorite positions were managing the snack bar at JC Penneys and at Western outfitters in Yakima, Washington.
She is survived by her three children Verna Madison, Sherri VanderWelle and Rod Madison. Four grandchildren, Shawna Williams, Lindsey Madison, Jerod Williams, Cedar Rose, and four great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Paul Madison and her parents Roy and Maddie Alberty.
She will be missed by those who loved her. At her wishes, there will be no formal service
