

Yakima- Ida Beatrice Chatfield Vance (Beaty) passed away August 15, 2013 in Yakima. Beaty was born on November 1, 1920, in the Cowiche Canyon. The youngest of five children to Ernie and Blanche Chatfield, she married the boy next door, Worth Vance. After buying her parents’ orchard, Worth and Beaty grew soft fruit, selling most of it direcly from the orchard. Beaty resided at the ranch for 92 years.
As a farmer’s wife and growing up in the depression, Beaty worked alongside her family and was known as “The Peach Lady” to her many customers. She also worked at Jack Frost Fruit for 25 years.
Beaty was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings, her husband, Worth and her grandson, Stuart Vance.
She is survived by her son, Gary (Geraldine) Vance and daughter, Sandra (Don) Capps, her grandchildren, Trevor (Dana) Vance, Michelle (Jeff) Lublin, Todd (Trista) Capps, and seven great grandchildren, Erin & Jonathan Vance, Aunika & Anissa Capps, Riley, Gage & Gavin Lublin.
Viewing will be from 4-8p.m. at Keith & Keith Funeral Home on Monday, August 19, 2013. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 1p.m. at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Central Washington Agricultural Museum in Union Gap, Full Bright Park.
