It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Parker Phelps, Jr., who died peacefully at home on June 26, 2026, at the age of 66, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by love with his wife by his side.
Jack lived a life defined by love, strength, and kindness. He faced his illness with remarkable courage and grace, inspiring everyone around him with his resilience and determination. Jack was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Born on November 24, 1959, in Spokane, Washington, Jack was the son of Jack Parker Phelps, Sr. and Phillis Revay Bailey. His family later moved to Prosser and eventually settled in Grandview, where he graduated from Grandview High School in 1978.
Jack devoted many years to the agricultural industry as a chemical mixer, taking great pride in his work and his commitment to the profession. In 1989, he married Lorie Haines, and together they welcomed two sons, Cole Parker Phelps and Jamie Lee Phelps. The family later made their home in Yakima, Washington.
In 2018, Jack met his best friend and soon to be the love of his life, Kaci Phelps. They got married in October 2024. He also helped raise her children—Zuriel Raymond Pollicino, Zoe Kandice-Jo Pollicino, and Jayna Grace Pollicino—whom he embraced as his own.
After retiring at age 62, Jack enjoyed beach trips with Kaci and quiet days at home with family. He took great pride in caring for his home and yard, spending countless hours tending his lawn and trees and proudly sharing the results of his hard work with others. Jack also loved baseball, a game he played in school and later taught to his sons. A devoted sports fan, he enjoyed watching games on TV. He also loved movies and often rewatched his favorites, including Braveheart. One quote he especially appreciated was, “Men don’t follow titles, they follow courage,” a sentiment that reflected the way Jack lived. Known as a natural prankster, he loved to spook people and laugh at their reactions. He also enjoyed giving loved ones nicknames, a special gesture that made each person feel uniquely cherished.
Those who knew Jack will remember his sense of humor, generosity, compassion, strong work ethic, and big heart. His smile, laughter, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He will also always be remembered as a very patient person. He taught patience and showed it through and through. He never sought recognition or praise, choosing instead to live with humility, compassion, and quiet strength. His steady presence, strong cadence, warm heart, and unwavering love will be deeply missed but not forgotten.
Jack is survived by his wife, Kaci Phelps; his sons, Cole Phelps and Jamie Phelps; his stepdaughters, Zoe Pollicino and Jayna Pollicino; his grandchildren, Emalynn and Michael; and his sister, Valerie Brendemihl, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Phelps, Sr. and Phillis Phelps; the mother of his children, Lorie Haines; and his stepson, Zuriel Pollicino.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Keith & Keith Terrace Heights Memorial Center, 2807 Terrace Heights Dr., Yakima, WA 98901.
