Jack Richard Stapleton

Jack Richard Stapleton (Poppie) 90 years old. Born November 24, 1928 in Yakima, WA. Died June 07, 2019. He was the son of Marlin and Doris Stapleton.

Jack graduated from Yakima High School in 1947, then went on to Pacific University then to WSU. He married Peggy L. Whitehead and had two daughters.

Jack was an elementary school teacher for the Yakima School District for many years until retirement. He is survived by Peggy Stapleton, Daughters Anna Shay (Brian) and Shelly Mullins. Five grandchildren: Nathan Taylor (Nicole), Alaina Mullins (Nick), Linsey Ortiz, Evan Hewitt, & Aimee Hewitt (Ryan); seven great-grandchildren: Makenna, Jason, Devyn, Kyah, Olivia, Jacob & Brea. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Poppie loved kids and enjoyed going to his grandchildren and great grandchildren's events. He never missed a birthday, adding a birthday card and some money. Poppie really liked to shop & buy things that were helpful to the families.

Jack had a big impact on his many students lives and was recognized everywhere he went with a story about Mr. Stapleton. Even in his last week of life, a hospital nurse told a story of him scaring hiccups out of her. Jack and his family would like to thank the caring staff at Cornerstone, Virginia Mason Memorial, and Mountain View Home Health, Dial-A-Ride, and his caregivers that were so loving and kind to him (Lori & Danette). Also his good neighbors of many years.

Jack would like to have donations made, or school supplies bought and donated in his name (he taught at for so many years at Nob Hill & Hoover Elementary) or to another school of your choice.
