Our beloved brother was born January 5, 1957 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital to Ted and Betty Sirrs. Jim was the second youngest of eight children.
He attended St. Paul’s Grade School and graduated from Carroll High School in 1975. He also took some cooking classes at J.M. Perry for a year.
He took flying lessons but color blindness prevented him from earning a certificate.
Jim worked at Noel Canning for more than twenty years and later worked at the Safeway stores as a baker.
Jim had a great love for the outdoors. He enjoyed Mother Nature in all her seasons. In his younger years, he loved the bow hunting camps, large format photography and camping/hiking in the woods as well as the beaches along the Washington coast. He was an avid fisherman.
Cooking was a lifelong passion of Jim’s. He so enjoyed the fruits of his labors, as did everyone who sat at his table and were nourished. He loved gardening, and was always growing fruits and vegetables throughout his life, which showed off his green thumb.
Jim’s greatest gift was his huge heart and a big smile; it was gold. We don’t think Jim fully understood how precious this gift was that he so freely gave to folks. We thank you Jim, for bringing a smile to our faces and laughter to our hearts.
Jim had diabetes and MDS. He was on chemo treatments a little over a year. He died too young, but left an ageless example of a loving human being.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Betty Sirrs, and a brother, Ted Sirrs Jr.
He is survived by his aunt, Aileen Sirrs, and six siblings: Fred Sirrs of Dundas, Ontario, Canada; Tom Sirrs of Spokane, WA; Patricia Lopez of Honolulu, HI; Becky and John Sirrs of Yakima, WA; and, Julie Ulchak of Idyllwild, CA. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins Barbara Amidon and Marc Sirrs.
Jim, you will be in our hearts forever. We Love You!
