James W. "Jimmy" Trout, 65, of Selah, Washington passed away peacefully at home with his family on July 27th, 2012. Jimmy was born to M.N. (Mike) Trout and Arvena M. (Farrell) on 11/15/1946 in Yakima.
The family moved to the Seattle area when he was 5 years old. He attended Shorewood Elementary School, Cascade Junior High and then graduated from Evergreen High School in 1965. While in high school he played basketball, was a counselor at Camp Waskowitz, was a member of the Wolverine Guard and played a lead role in the Latin Club. In his senior year of high school Jim was voted, "Most Agreeable" by his classmates. He attended Central Washington State College for one year and then in 1966 married his first wife, Sueann Varner. Together they had two children, Rick (1966) and Jami (1969).
He started working at Lone Star Cement Company in Seattle in 1966 and while there became an electrician in 1973. During this time he spent many days on the softball field with work friends playing catcher for the company team. It was also during this time that he decided to take up sky diving and after several successful jumps he decided to quit that sport while he was ahead.
In 1984, after 18 years at Lone Star he moved back to Selah and continued as an electrician with Del Monte Foods. Jim made some very special friends while working at Del Monte. His co-workers described him as very respectful, and a true gentleman. He loved it at Del Monte and that is why after retiring from a supervisory position in 2008 he ended up going back on two separate occasions to help out during pack season.
In 1988 he met his true soul mate, Sharon Davis. They were married April 19th, 1991 and Jim became the proud step-father to Heather. Jim and Sharon lived a happy life together. They enjoyed many years of camping and snowmobiling in the hills of central Washington and Oregon, rafting down the Yakima River, playing darts, and were very active with fantasy football and became avid NASCAR followers. They took numerous trips in their motor-home up and down both the Washington and Oregon coasts. They also traveled to many other places across the country including The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone and Key West. One of their most memorable vacations was a trip they took to Rome that included a stop in New York.
His final big trip was one he had been wanting to do for some time. He had always dreamed of having his three children, their spouses and the grandchildren spend some time together in North Carolina. That dream came true in May of 2012 when he and his eleven family members shared the Roebucks house together in Mooresville. He made a comment on that trip that we should have done it earlier because, even though we had a perfect dozen in our family, it should have been a "bakers dozen". Jim was a devoted grandfather to his five beautiful grandchildren. They brought him much enjoyment and in the last few months it was his grandchildren who motivated him to stay strong. During the worst of his illness when it seemed there was nothing that could help him feel better, it was their laughter that brought him comfort and peace.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon K. (Davis) Trout and his mother, Arvena M. (Farrell)
Trout.
He is survived by his father, M.N. (Mike) Trout of Selah. His son, Richard (Tracey) Trout of Lake Stevens. His daughters, Jami (Patrick) Hanulik of Seattle and Heather (Sam) Roebuck of Mooresville, NC. His grand-children, Duane James "DJ" Trout, Riley May Hanulik and Makena Sue Hanulik, Blake Allen Roebuck and Emily Kaylynn Roebuck. His brother, Michael E. (Mickey) Trout of Selah and his children, Tracey (Gene) Armstrong, Becky (Lauren) Fryxell, and Brett Trout.
